hp5550 not printing full page 2

I have a hp5550 attached to a windows XP home system. It has been working great until monday. Since then it does not print all the data on a page. If I am printing a checklist for example, I might get the header and items 1 and 7 of 10 items that were supposed to be on the sheet. And when I try to print a document with text boxes, I might get one or two out of 6. Does anyone out there have an idea as to what might be causing this????

Try to print a configuration page from the information menu on the printer and see if you get a complete or incomplete print then? If you only get incomplete prints from your applications you should try to change the printer driver.

have you solved this? Try a firmware upgrade. Sounds like it's the formatter dropping the data. If using a NIC, it could be the culprit.

THANKS, I did manage to fix the problem. It was actually a combination of problems. The print cable was a little loose at the connection which was preventing the printer low ink message from getting to the computer. When I tightened this connection, the popup showed up and I changed the black ink. Now the printer works fine. Thanks again.
