hi boys and girls

i need a printer fix!! i've got a hp4550 and it's just so slow in printing so i want to upgrade the ram, hoping that we can speed up the jobs. i've got some sd ram 64mb and 32mb and wonder if i can just hammer them onto the motherboard. they we're installed on olivetti computers before. looking at the size it seems that they fit perfect. any advice?

cheers

benjamin

ps: do i have configure the ram somehow on the printer i put it in or can i just bang it in and it works?
p.p.s: why is the hp ram so much more expensive then ordinary ram?

"Hammer" , "bang" memory in... With such technical terminology, I would say to avoid doing whatever you're thinking of doing. Not trying to sound rude, but if someone from my office said that, I'd see to it their last paycheck would be cut.

I'd ask what is slow? What type of jobs are you trying to print that are so slow? Is a test page slow?

You typically want to order the ram from hp, which is compatible with the device 100%, don't mess with any other parts that appear to fit, they weren't designed for this device.

P.S. Please always take the time to backup any and all data before performing any actions suggested for ANY problem, regardless of how minor a change it might seem. Also test the backup to make sure it is intact.

dear matt,
thanks for your reply. i bought some ram from hp and it works fine now. we improved the performance almost by double.
apologies for my terminology; i can assure you that we do not hammer or bang in our ram. we just enjoy to use some rough terms from time to time. it's like having a flower in your dustbin :)
