I am attempting to install HP-UX 10.20 on a C160L with a blank hard drive. The system does not have a suitable video card so I am running the console through the serial port and viewing it on my PC via hyperterm. I boot off the CD-ROM, get a notification that the console is the serial interface and then get a message that a PS/2 DIN interface has been detected. I am prompted to select a keyboard language to use the keyboard. At this point keystrokes are no longer recognized within the hyperterm session and I can get no further. I do not have a keyboard or mouse connected to the system as both had to be disconnected to force the console display to the serial port. There are no broken pins in either the mouse or keyboard ports. I have attached the console messages. Has anyone ever seen anything like this?

I'm having the same problem trying to install on a B180L via serial console. I get the prompted with the same question durring install though. I know the null modem cable works becasue I can interact with the boot prompt just fine. My problem however, is I cant set the keyboard path to anything besides PS2. I get this message:

ERROR: That path is not valid for that use. Your path has not been changed.
Possible paths are:
PS2

Main Menu: Enter command >

Any ideas?

Did anyone overcome this problem? I'm trying to do an HPUX 11 install on a d210 using a PC via the serial console. I get to roughly the same place when the machine asks me to identify which type of serial console I'm using and offers me three options, none of which I can select as the HP box appears to have dropped the DTS/DTR signal and wont accept anything I type.. It cant be the cable as it allows me to interact with the menus etc earlier on , or can it? I'm tearing my hair out here! Any one solved this?
