I was just moved into an office that has many unlabled printer cartridges, and I'm new to printers....so I have no idea which cartridge model goes with what printer. Does anybody have a website of printer cartridges vs. HP Models?

Okay, I found a website and got information about all the cartridges and models that I work with. Now...what I do not know from experience yet...what models of cartridges are backwards/forwards compatible with printers other than their own? I.E. is a C4127 for an LJ4000/4050 usable in an LJ 4300? How about a C4096 for a LJ2100/2200 in a 2300 or a 2420? I'm new to this...any input would be appreciated.

kenhal,
check out hp's site. they do have a link to user forums there, that their techs check up on.
you could also search their site by printer and see and cartridge and see what it comes back with.

The only one that I am absoulutly certain of the the 61X (LaserJet 4100) is backwards compatible with the 27X (LaserJet 4000/4050). We only stock and sell the 61X as they will work in 4000, 4050, and 4100. The 27X's however will only work in the 4000, & 4050.

And you may have noticed the A and X designation on some cartrides, like 27A and 27X. These are the same cartridges, but the X is a high yield, and offers more prints.

There are tons of cartridge sites out there.

Go to some of them and look up your printer models and make a note of cartridge numbers and then look at info on those cartridges and/or google on the cartridge number. You will eventually get enough reference info to get an idea of models.

Also take a look at ebay listings for cartridge numbers you come up with. Some ebay sellers will post pretty detailed listings of printers that go with a cartridge they are trying to sell.
