I am planning to write the HP sys admin certificatin - wondering if somebody who has written the exam recently can give some tips

Hi !
For passing the HP Sysadmin Cert you should know :
- Shell (wildcards, In/Output-Redirection, etc.)
- basic Regular Expressions
- basic commands (grep, sort, ...)
- Disk-FileSystem stuff (mount, fstab, mkfs/newfs, ...)
- LVM-Stuff (pv/vg/lv*)
- Backup-restore (Ignite, fbackup, cpio, tar)
- Boot-Stuff (from ISL to /sbin/init.d/* ...)
- create new kernel ( mk_kernel, kmadmin, ...)
- user/groups (add, delete, manage)
- cron
- Networking : NFS, ARPA/Berkeley Srvcs, YP/NIS, ...)

Hope this helps ...

Hi Schnek,

Could you please give any urls for test/practise exams?

Thanx in advance,

uxadmin

go to Do a search on "Certification" you will be linked to a proctice test. This is for the HP Star Certification.

Good luck. The test used to be about 60 questions, but I understand it was lengthened to 120. The test will cover basic HP UNIX, LVM, UNIX Networking, Kernal Configuration ..etc.
