HP Scanjet 5200 C will not scan to MS Word

My HP Scanjet 5200 C is connected to a Windows 98 SE OS PC. My PC is a Compaq model 7478 with a AMD-K6(tm) 3D processor with 512 ram. In the scan to menu,MS Word is not an option even though it is on the system. Can someone suggest why and what I need to do to get it to perform this function.

Was the scanner installed before you installed MS Word? If so then you will need to reinstall the scanner to find Word.

The software was already installed prior to the scanner being connected. Since I last submitted my problem, My scanner has locked in on a Kodak imaging program. The other programs that were optional in the scan to menu are now not being produced as options. I was trying to get my scanner to switch from scanning to Paintbrush to Ms Word or Kodak imaging. I use Kodak Imaging more than any other program, however I would like to understand how to make the other programs like Powerpoint, MS Word and Excell options that would be available to me. Thank you for your interest in helping me. It is appreciated.

These are the newest available. If these are different than the ones you have, download and install. If these are the same, i recommend complete removal of HP software and scanner, then do a fresh install. By the way, are you connecting USB?

Just wanted to let everyone know that uninstalling the software and scanner, then reinstalling both worked. The scanner is working fine now.( It was connected thru a usb cable) Thanks a whole lot. Ed N.
