Whenever I scan an original to either a file or application I need to set the type to "black and white drawing" so that the scanned document looks the same as the original. However when I do this, the scanned document is only about 75% the size of the original even though I select the output size option to be "use original size". If I set the type to be "text" or "text and image" the format is garbaged and does not look like the original even though the original may just be a printout of an email which I would assume is text format. If I scan with the output destination as the printer all works OK regardless of which type I specify. Per HP support, I have uninstalled and reinstalled the software to no avail. Any ideas?

Thanks

Thanks, I will look into that. The scanner default is 200 dpi. In Word it appears that the default font is Times New Roman with a size of 12. Not sure however what that equates to in dpi.
