I recently sold an older 233Mhz, Windows 95 computer to my cousin. Apon reformatting the harddrive my recovery disk stopped in the middle of the recovery wiping out half of my hard drive. There is a scratch on the CD. Does anyone know what I should do or know where I can buy a new disk.

if you have any luck with this please let me know - i need a recovery cd for an hp omnibook xe3 and hp will not even sell me one!

Why don't you create another recovery disk from another machine with the same operating system?

Or, have you bought a machine with the operating system pre installed and you where only supplied with a recovery/driver disk from the manufacturer. and no dick of the op. sys.

how do i create a bootable recovery disc ? - ps i have a writer

follow the instruction below. note must be from the same operating system. it will copy certain files to a floppy.

Start button - settings - control panel - add/remove programs - 3nd tab (startup disk) - create disk.

hope this helps

I would just do a clean install of the operating system of your choice. You can extract any drivers you need from the recovery dick by browsing through it for the folder containing same.

i put a new hard drive in my hp now the recovery disk want work anyone know why ?

or should i use the new hd as a slave ?

Well one thing that you can do is take the CD that has a scratch on it to a CD repair place I don't know if you have any around you we have all kinds where I live and they can possibly repair the CD for you so that you can re-install everything on your computer.

dude309 ,
If you replaced your hard drive your recovery disk will not work. You can contact HP @ 970-346-8682 to see if they can give you any more info. Let us know.
