Hi
We have two hp printers hp4700dn & hp4050 on our network. They have been working fine for a while now then today we cannot print from them. When we try to print we get a message saying windows cannot print due to a problem with the printer setup. We have checked all these options and all is right. When we try and veiw properties of the printer we get a message that says the The print spooler service is not running, yet it is.
Any ideas??

Re-start spooler.exe. Or re-install drivers.
New server? New routers/switches? Could be a through-put issue. Upgrade the firmware on the JetDirect cards.

Yup..... restarting the spooler is definately the first thing.

From you print server, go to a Command prompt, and do:

NET STOP SPOOLER

NET START SPOOLER

... and clear all the hung print jobs.

Hi
The problem is now fixed. After restarting the spooler several times and re installing the drivers we found that two had become corupted, one on each printer.
Thanks for the help.
