HP Photosmart 3300 series 3rd party cartridges

I'm looking at replacing my current HP 02 Vivera OEM cartridges with 3rd party cartidges as the EOMs get low. I've read that in general 3rd party cartidges can cause problems for your printer, but none of those comments have been specific to the new 02 type cartridge. The 02 replacements at inksmile have twice the ink amount and costs about 25% or so less than the OEM 02 cartridges. I have 2 questions:

(1) Will these 3rd party cartridges cause printer problems (e.g. ink well clogging (assuming the HP Photosmart 3310 even has ink wells?) or general maintenance issues?

(2) Will the printer correctly track the ink usage; or will the ink gauge be confused by the extra ink in the 3rd party cartridge?

Nope -- I just played it safe and bought the HP genuine stuff. I got a value pack from Costco.
