I am trying to replace a failed harddrive on an HP Pavillion 4535 and I need the part number. HP's PartsDirect couldn't tell me the part number and told me to call tech support. HP Tech Support wants $25 just to tell me what the part number is. Does anybody know where I can find the part number for the harddrive. I refuse to pay HP $25 to tell me a part number. It's bad enough that the harddrive failed after a year and a half.

Thanks.

why bother buying another HD from HP...I would venture to guess that you would pay a premium compared to buying a drive direct? Doug

The harddrive in the HP Pavillion 4535 doesn't slide into a slot like a normal computer, it bolts to the chassis. I wasn't sure a harddrive from another manufacturer would fit properly in the computer.

These days hard drives are pretty much alike when it comes to fixings. Drives usually have 3 tapped holes in the cheeks down each side, and 4 tapped holes underneath. You'll definitely pay a premium for buying from HP...
