How the heck do you remove the hard drive from this laptop. I see the 2 obvious screws and it begins to slide out than stops. Another engineering marvel from HP

Wild guess - make sure the top part of the laptop (with the screen) is cracked OPEN a bit maybe 2 inches. I've seen some laptop cases that prevent the hard drive from coming out if the top is closed.

Failing that, look for any type of a lock/finger switch.

How much movement do you have before it gets blocked? 5mm, 10mm, etc...?

Are you trying to slide this drive/tray assembly out with the laptop upside down on the table? Maybe part of the tray assembly is catching on the innards - try sliding it out with the laptop the right way up. This may allow the drive to drop fractionally and clear the obstruction.

The hard drive can be removed by unscrewing three screws on the underside of the laptop. One screw is covered by a rubber grommet.

I can not vouch for the following, as I was unable to DL the manual (Sundays it is terrible to DL from RapidShare as a FREE user)...

here is a Commercial site that sells the manual (UK based):

The dreaded hidden screw underrubber grommet. Let me try that.
Thanks
