For some reason all of my new HP network printers are spitting out one page, with one line of garbage text. There is noone access these printers, but for some reason about every 6 to 7 hours a page comes out with this garbage text. If anybody has any suggestions,or has had the same problems please let me know thank you.

Check your client pc's for the bugbear virus.

we are windows nt using a PDC and a BDC. Our clients are running Windows 2000. I checked there is no bugbear virus.

Try resetting the printer to defaults to see if that fixes it. Look at what the user is doing when this happens, are they in a Word document. If so check the document for formating and see if there is an embeded picture or other type of file that might connect to another file some where else. If so it could be sending and receiving and may effect the printer. Do you have print spooling on the server? It could be that the server is sending out a test page or receiving garbeled print.

I had a simular problem with Hp Printers. If your using ones like I was, with builtin Jetdirect Cards try going to hp site and get there HP Download Manager. This will let you scan the network for Printers that can have a firmware update. Once I did this and updated the firmware this problem went away.

I am using hp 4100n and I called hp support they told me that something could be scanning my network, when it scans it hits my printer port, and it's printering out the entire ream of one line of text what should I do, if this is the problem? Should I take the gateway address out, so that only the internal computers can see? Any help is appreicated.
