HP multi function: paper stops before printing

Have a HP color copier 170 that will only feed paper as far as the platen (where the print head runs across). Gives jam condition. Happens on every page. Have cleaned entire machine, feed tires are good, sep pad is good, encoder strip and wheel are good. Anybody got any ideas?

try to adjust the carriage to paper height....you will have to turn the torx screws that secure the carriage rod to the printer. do it in 1/4 turn increments...let me know if it works.
