I have install HP LaserJet 4 printer on our AIX ver 4 server. The problem I face is when ever I try to print via the print queue LP1 to device LP1 (HP4 ).
I get an error message on the printer "PC LOAD LETTER".
Does any body knows how I can get the error message off.

If you are printing on letter paper, check the settings on the printer control panel. Ensure PC tray is set to letter. You can run a Self Test page to check the printer configuration settings...Menu key 7 or 8 times to TEST MENU...ITEM key to Self Test...ENTER key to print.

I will try. I will post the msg I get when finished

Sounds like its trying to grab from the manual tray first. Try it from the tray 1 and see if it works. On your test page make sure it shows under PRINTING MENU:

MANUAL FEED = OFF and PAPER = LETTER

If these prove true check out your printers driver to see if its grabbing auto/tray2 or 250 page tray. Any of those three should work correctly.

Pull out the tray and stick your hand into the cavity. You should be able to gently rock a switch under the printer in the middle. Put not your trust in princes.

I now have another issue. The printer is used in printing invoice. The invoice paper has a header pre-printed.

The header side is put in the tray face down outwardly.

[ul][li]What settings will I need to change to enable the print to print perfectly without printing upside down when I put;

[li]the Header in face down inwardly and the Footer face outwardly.[/li][/ul]

In short turn paper 90 degrees and get the same print

If you are feed from the cassette tray, you have to put the invoices in face down, with the top of the form at the front of the tray.
