Has anyone managed to install two network cards on a HP LH6000 server?
No matter what types of nics I use it only sees one card. Changed different slots used different nics (only support pci), used default kernel, custom kernel removed DPT-Olivetti and Mylex drivers because I have seen problems with those drivers and HP machines. Tryed Various types of drivers but can't get it to work with two nics. Server has onboard nic that is dissabled.
Any clues?????thanks

Most all PCI NICs need you to load the driver. What are you trying to do? You cannot load balance. Are you trying to isolate VIP from your IP network? Make sure you make the NICs different metrics so your routes don't flip-flop. Try either the 3C905 or a Netflex II or III. I know both of these will work in a dual-homed server.

p.s. Remember: NIC drivers need to be added in the "add-a-card" menus, not in the kernel build menus. ----------------------------

hatz101, I'm having the same problem with an LH6000r
and a 3com NIC. The onboard NIC is recognized and works just fine. Have disk controllers in slots 6 & 8, tried the
3com in slots 1 & 2 and nothing. Using Windows Server 2000.
Did you have any success getting the additional NIC to work?

I need the additional card for networking reasons.
