Can a 4500 print onto 225.8 gsm paper

In a single word, No. Tray 1 is rated for 16 to 47 lbs. (60 to 176 g/m2) Trays 2 & 3 & Duplex printing is rated for 16 to 28 lbs (60 to 105 g/m2)

225.8 g/m2 is heavier than HP has rated this printer. Now, you can try feeding it into the printer, but you risk jams, and possibly other problems. Or it may work fine. But HP's stance is that it is not supported.

Hopefully you don't have a great deal of prints with this paper. As TCouch shows with the specs, don't plan on tray 2. With tray 1, you'll most likely have to feed it one piece at a time. We've put some pretty heavy card stock through, sometimes even successfully! But it is a slow process. I suggest, if possible for this printing, to use letter size instead of, say, a 4x6.

And experiment with the paper settings. Don't feel like you have to use the card stock setting. Sometimes the rough paper setting helps, as does the label setting. Make sure there is little to no curl to the paper.

We've had this model for a couple of years now and have pushed some limits on different weights (plenty of 80# and above) and textured papers. It doesn't like to be aggravated too much, so good luck.

As mentioned above, using tray 1 is your best bet while having it exit out the other side. The straighter the paper path the better.
