Just wanted to get a feel from people if they have experienced problems with the HP Laserjet 4200/4300 model? The problem that we have had is that the fuser unit in this particular model has been nothing but trouble. We have had at least 20 fuser units "go bad" on us in less than a one year period. There are two feeder rollers inside of the fuser unit that have been "tearing" up on us. It is the roller located on top of the fuser for some reason just rolls off and then shreds apart. Just want to know if there is anyone else out there who has got frustrated by the same thing ? ? ?

Here are the affected Models with service note numbers and serial number range. Feel free to check them at your leasure.

I have the same problem with one of 4200 printers, the film is pelling off, I called HP this morning but my serial number is not under service note. 60.000 pages and I have to change the fuser :(

I'd like to know which serial numbers of FUSERS this issue applied to, since I have seen the same issue on one non-covered 4200 and two Laserjet 4100's now.

The non-covered 4200 was CNBX402191, I did not write down the fuser serial number. Still working, but showing some damage on one side and looking like it will go bad...

The 4100's were rare, but essentially the same issue.

I've posted the serials of the fusers I have in hand so far, above - and I will likely post more later. One of our fleets has 35 printers of this class, 23 in warranty range.

The fusers of that (later) set which failed are:

AAY0062094
AAY0077798
AAX0069692
AAX0094014
AAX0040463

and the previous failures were posted above...

Drew,

I called HP again and one of the Tech told me that eventhough that printer is out of warranty and all of my 4200's serial number are out of the range but he will try to get one fuser for the one that broken (CNBX....)

Drew.

I gave you exactly what was told in the service note. The Service Note that HP gave it's vendors, through their CSN Web Site does not list the serial numbers of the fusers. It only lists the serial numbers of the machines that had bad fusers in them when they were produced. I don't have any serial numbers for the fusers to give you.

And, yes, sometimes HP will push through a warranty on one that is out of range. They did it for me on a JetDirect 615n that they also have known issues with. It was outside the serial number range, and they still replaced it. They won't always. I had 3 JetDirects that had the problem, and they only replaced 1. The customer had to buy the others.

Hey TCouch! I believe we have a bad fuser in our 4200. Could you please let me know if my S/N is covered by Service Note #3439? The S/N is USDNS09766.

Darin.

I posted all the serial numbers that were affected by the fuser peeling, according to HP. And the serial number you gave me is on the list. If you look up about 6 posts, you will see a big list of serial numbers. These are the one's I posted as being affected.
