I have had isseus with my Hp Laserjet 4100's for a while now. I have been getting messed up printing when i print anything from the web or from a local file. When it prints out the text in some cases will be Boxes. ANd it does not happen all the time just now and then. I have replaces the printer and still get this. I have replaces the cables and even the drivers still same thing. Is come spots i have even tried to reinstall the Fonts as well as MS office 2000 pro and IE 5.5 SP2. I am not sure where to go next. i have talked to HP and all i get it the same thing, Bad driver but i have changed that. Now if i print something and get the boxes i can reprint it right away and its fine. nothing points to something else about this problem.any hel would be great. and 1 more thing. i have 50 pc's and 50 4100's not all do this but all are configed the same.

Does it matter which program you are printing from? I have seen this problem with certain Adobe Acrobat documents.

Any program and not all thie time. just now and the, like it would print 30 pages and 1 with boxes. Then 10 pages and 1 with boxes. totaly random.

That is extremely funky. Definitely sounds like a driver issue, but you've already addressed that.
Which driver are you using? PCL6, PCL5e (I think) or PS?
When you switch to a different driver, are you just changing it in the printer's properies or deleting the printer and reinstalling with the new driver?

What type of printer cables are you using?
Are they all the same?
I fixed something like this a while ago, it needed a certified cable etc....was a real mystery for a while.
The length of the cabling and anything that might cause interference with the data transfer as in other electronic or machinery could also be relevant.
Do you use any data switches?

This is sounding like a data handshaking issue.

Something new . it seems that the only errors printing are from anything from the web. now this is not only on 1 type or pc or even 1 type of printer. After i sent out an email to all i got back people that used all kinds of printers from HP to Epson and any type of pc. Now the only common i could find is all who have the problem are running some sort of Highspeed internet like Cable or even Direct Way Sattilite .anything will help me now.

Tough one with the new info....
I would tend to look into software for this though, like what language packs are installed etc.

If it only messes up from the web, you might try copying and pasting into a program like Word and see what you end up with once you paste it in.

Might even be a setting in internet properties...have a look.
What browsers are they using? Kimber
