More information would be helpful. How is the printer connected? Via LPT, or network? If LPT, have you verified the functionality of the cable. If network, have you verified functionality of all RJ-45 cables, as they are all patch to your router or punch down block? Have you given the printer an IP address? Can you ping the IP address? Is the subnet set up correctly for your network? You're NOT using DHCP for IP configuration to the printer? Any error messages you recieve on the product or computer? Have you verified functionality of the Printer by running a config page? If you are connecting via the network, does your printer have a Jet Direct 615N as these have known problems with HP, and may be the cause, to which they will replace it at no charge. Let's see, what else did I miss.
It would be very hard to even make a wild guess as to why you are having this problem with out having more information first.
Rather than using the 4100 drivers, have you tried installing it using the "Generic Text Only" drivers that is built into Windows? I have not found a printer that would not work with these drivers assuming all else is functional?
As, when you print does it just add it to the print queue, and that's as far as it goes? I'd check to make sure the print spooler is running in the Windows Services.
