Hi,
I have a bunch of older HP jetdirect devices (jetdirect 300x to be specific) and I need to change their appletalk names. Right now all of their appletalk names are just the make and model of each printer, which doesn't help me much in a school environment when I have at least 20 printers with the same name. On the jetdirect's web interface there are no appletalk options besides enable/disable. On my newer jetdirect boxes (en3700) there is a whole appletalk tab where I can easily change the name. Any suggestions short of replacing every old jetdirect box in the school?

This depends on what printers you have. is it supported for mac network? are the printers supporting that JD card? are the printers/JD cards supported for bigger networks?

I know for a fact that neither 300x or EN3700 supports Mac ethernet(even if it Can work nicely), but i am not really into Mac environment, so i dont know how it works with appletalk

that it is not supported doesnt mean it wont work, just that it might cause problems =)
