I downgraded from Vista to XP

The system is HP Pavilion dv2418nr Entertainment Notebook, AMD 64 processor Athlon X2, Nvidia graphics, Broadcom wireless.

I have all the driver except the Ethernet is not working

I recently got cable modem from Optimum Online Tv service

Plz dont just direct me to HP website i already tried those drivers....This website has Intel pro network drivers and my system is AMD.

I don't see why you couldn't have an Intel network adapter on an AMD CPU board. The reason is that the motherboard manufacturers can add whatever network adapters they want to their boards. They'll have one usually available from the chipset manufacturer, but that doesn't limit their options.

Why not give that driver a try first, and see what happens, otherwise...

yes i have already tried the Intel Pro adapter from the HP official website and nothing has happened...ok searching google again for some luck.

Midniter,

double click the devices missing the driver, and go to the DETAILS tab, there under Hardware ID, note down the VEN and DEV numbers, e.g. VEN_1043&DEV_0921, and post them here...

and I will gladly try to find the correct drivers for that beast...

PS: HP does have a XP driver download page, but as you have noticed it does state the Intel Pro/Wireless driver... you could alternatively try the driver directly from Intel... but with the VEN and DEV numbers I would be able to tell if it really is an Intel device or not...

How to ask a question, when posting them to a professional forum.
Only ask questions with yes/no answers if you want "yes" or "no"

thx guys u have been most helpful....

I download the Chipset driver and installed it....yes it did have a Ethernet driver in it...

I installed it without uninstalling the other drivers first ... i just took a chance... well the comp restarted and then it kept crashing every time...went in System restore...

Long story short my wife got fed up (women what do they care about problem solving haha they want results) and said i should just install vista (it came with Vista originally) so i did that and Ethernet is working fine...

anyway thx for your help guys i really appreciate it :D
