Hi all,
I have a WinXP operating system and a HP 720c DeskJet
parallel printer.
The XP driver for this printer is working but is not very
good. I'm looking for a driver that works like the good
old v10.1 or v10.3 Win98 driver.

The FinePrint software is OK, but there is another problem:
the printer is not using the black cartridge unless the all
text is black. If exist a single color item, the black
color is combined from the three basic colors of the colored
cartridge.

Does any one know about a good XP driver ???

Thank you !!!

I have had a similar request for my dj 710c and have had a hard look in hp website for new updated drivers and found NONE.

Apparently HP advise users to use the default driver that comes with XP and this driver only provide basic printing support as it is stated in their website.

So no luck for you and me...

Thanx for the answer !
Did you try anything else ?
Do you have any hints for good printing with this printer ?

I checked for my hp 722c and discovered on the HP website and a XP forum that the printer was using a special protocol made by HP, and Microsoft didn't support it and HP dind't bother to fix it. There is therefore two solutions, buy a new printer or switch back to windows 98

tweakmp, thank you !
Do you know how to find this unsupported protocol ?!
And about the two solutions, I think I'll adopt
the first one as last option.
