We have a HP DesignJet 600 plotter in our office and can't seem to get it to print from MS Project 98 from a Win 2000 or WinXP machine. It will print from a Win98 machine and will print anything else from the 2K and XP machines. Any suggestions on how to fix this? Someone told us to find a raster driver and we did that but still no luck.

Click the Start button, point to Settings, and then click Printers.
Double-click the Add Printer icon.
Click Next, click Local Printer, and then click Next.
In the Manufacturers box, click HP. In the Printers box, click DesignJet 600 if not listed insert cd, and then click Next.
In the Available Ports box, click LPT1 and then click Next.
In the Printer Name box, type a name for the printer. If you print from MS-DOS-based programs, click the Yes option, and then click Next.
When you are prompted "Would you like to print a test page?" click No, and then click Finish
once done thats the most common way u get it to work on that prog its very simple and easily done

I tried that and it doesn't work. This printer is set up on a network. Does that make a difference? I just can't seem to get it to work.

is the printer installed on any machine or is it a network printer

Try right click sharing and share the printer then see if users can send data to it then via the workgroup
i.e //worgroupname/computername/printers/designjet

Are you using an HP Jet direct to drive this printer, or does it have one built into the machine, or is it slaved off of another computer? Internal Jetdirects can occasionally be "quirky" at best.

Also, is this a recent issue, or has the harware been "pre-configured" in another office/location, or has this just occured?

Sometimes, if using JetDirects, they loose their IP address info, and must be re-configured from the server, or whatever machine "owns" the JetDirect.

If you are printing as a slaved printer, it could be a driver issue - check with HP. We have a Designjet 500 that is always having new drivers added, and continualy resolving some of the "quirks".
