HP Colour printer issue.

I have been asked by my manager to take old HP printer into one of our offices in Birmingham, it has printer server attached to it, the printer server is used an other printer before, so I have reset the printer server by pressing the red button and attached the HP printer via parallel port, now the printer-server is plugin into the network port (rj45), i have not gaven Ip address or anything yet, as I was not sure what to do next, now from here what is the next step and how do I install the printer to the server and give an IP address. No driver install as well. Can you help at all. please.............

Your print server probably has an IP assigned as well as a name.
If it is like others it is a matter of going onto a machine and adding a printer, network, browse for the network server, and once found tell it to use that printer.
Loading the print driver is the last step in the process.

Thank you for that Edfair, but how do I know if has name and IP address already. if I can find that info, I would not needed help. but please explain to me what to do step by step, and I prosume I know how add the printer to the server if I know the printer name and IP address.

I don't know what printer model you have, but you have to print a configuration (self test) from the printer to get that information. Usually this is done using the printers control panel.

So you are saying that when the printer server attached the network then it automatically gets an IP address and to find out the name and ip address print the config page.

That is understood, but what if it does not....

You should get the information on the config page yes or if this is a external jetdirect box there is a test button on the box you have to press.
