Hi,

I joined this forum hoping to find help with the following problem.

My HP 4500 Color LJ had an error message that the fuser kit needs to be exchanged. While with that message always appearing in the display it was printing white pages. First I thought it was a job printing and due to the aged fuser kit and that message it was simply printing no color but now, after I exchanged the fuser kit the printer starts to print white pages again and again.

Even when I go into the calibration menu right after powering the printer it continues printing white pages even when I ask for printing a calibration page.

The queues now seem to be empty and a test page I printed
seemed to have triggered again this loop of eternally printing white paper and exhausting the tray.

Any clues?

Ooops. The subject should be "white pages"

the problem is with the ITB that is the transfer belt.Replace it and you should be good to go.

Apart from the toner (4) the transter belt and fuser in this printer is changed by the user. It show a percentage of use. Replace the belt at about 80% to keep image quality good. The running cost of this printer is cheap and gives MUCH better prints than the 4600 and 4650 printers. All have a number of each printer. I also recommend getting it cleaned each year in the workshop. It about 2 hour labour but well worth it.

Never give up never give in.

There are no short cuts to anything worth doing :)

Thanks. I had a technician visit. He exchanged the transfer unit against a new one. Is there a chance to get the old one repaired e.g. by only exchanging the belt and laying it aside for a future repair in case the new TU gives up the ghost again?

No it like a toner. just replace it you can do this your self like the toner or fuser. But getting a technican to do it ok he can clean the printer at the same time. The cost should not be much more than a toner or two.
