My Hp laptop was fine yesterday and today all of a sudden the screen is flickering.I have not changed any hardware/software.what could be the problem?

it still behaves the same in safe mode.Any more clues?

Replace with another monitor. See if it stops. Had a similar case as this about a month ago, and the monitor was bad.
