Hi,

I just bought an HP 6110 all-in-one printer from Office Max on a killer deal, and was checking for info before I install it or even decide for sure to keep it. They were offering a refurbished one (still on sale this week thru 10-11-03) for $199 after $20 rebate. As usual they were out first thing Monday morning, but to their credit they offered me a brand new one for the same price! That's $100 less than normal, and $70 less than Costco or Sams! Couldn't pass that up!

First thing I saw on the downside was the ink cartridges are only half the size my Deskjet 882 uses, tho the b&w one HP-56 is cheaper @ $20, $35 for the HP-57 color.

CAN THEY BE REFILLED RELIABLY?

Also based on the CNET user comments it sounds like software sucks, and I'm wondering if anyone has suggestions there of what to use instead. I can get "corporate" drivers and then add 3rd party software I guess, tho I'm not looking to spend much $$ to get it.

SHOULD I KEEP the unit, when it's such a good price?

Thanks,

thanx

Well I only got one response, but I've been using the 6110 for a week, and so far so good! Don't know how they come up with their ppm ratings, but the prints and copies are good quality! And it's so nice to have a copier for the first time! A great machine for $200! That is if I get the $20 rebate returned. How's Office Max in that dept, anyone?

Haven't had a chance to try the Fax yet, anyone want to volunteer?

I also bought this unit at Office Max....except that it was a refurbished unit at $138 less a $30 rebate..

One thing about HP...they will try to resolve any problems. My unit was catching the front edge of the paper and slightly crimping every sheet that came through. I called the 800 number I found on their website (it wasn't in the instruction book). The rep told me how to clean the rollers, etc., but it didn't do any good, so they are sending me a new unit. They send the unit, along with a prepaid label for you to send the old one back. I talked to them on the 20th, got an email back shortly after. I checked the tracking # on Fedex, and found it is to be delivered on the 22nd.

As long as they will do that for a year if I have problems, I will deal with the little problems.
