I have a HP LJ 4000 set up as network printer, and it prints fine for all who use it except one person. Sporadically it won't print the entire page, it only prints a portion of the page, usually the top 2/3 of the page. If you print it again, it will print the whole page.

It seems to be very inconsistent, i.e, not the same document being printed, no conflicts with other users. I downloadeded a new driver in case it had gotten corrupted, but that hasn't changed anything. Any ideas?

Delete all mapped printers on users machine and the remap them to make sure the lates driver is pulled down from the print server.

I already deleted previous printers before installing driver again - any other ideas?

The problem is definatly located on this one client, so make a comparison betwen the client affected and the ones that work fine. Check for software updates, servicepacks, applications like virus scanners ect.

Is it an internal or external printserver being used ? Try make a direct connection to the printer if possible.
Also try printing from that client to another printer if possible and check reults.

Is this only when printing from Office (XP?) or in other programs as well? My organization had similar problems with Word 2002 on LJ4000-series printers and the fix was a combo of Office updates and printer driver tweaks. Let me know if this is the case and I can give you more info.

Yes, the problem is only printing from Office (Word 2002, etc.). Could you get me more info on how you fixed the problem? Thanks.

The fix we found was to use the LaserJet 4100 driver instead. The only catch is that the PostScript 4100 driver supports level 3 PostScript, whereas the 4000 itself only supports level 2. If you are not using the PS driver, this should not be a concern. Also, we deleted and recreated the normal.dot files on the machine, especially those under the All Users profile.

Does anyone know where I can purchase a duplexer for my HPLJ 4000TN printer?

Thanks

if its a problem printing from office only HP recognises this as a problem its more a office problem than a driver problem as a previous post said try some office updates.
