HP 2300 - Printing Sideways or Only 1 copy

I have 3 HP LaserJet 2300's (2300, 2300L, 2300DTN) on my network.

This issue seems to happen with some users but not others. When it happens to a user, it continues to happen.

Symptoms:
User prints - several blank pages are printed, and it may ask to load tray 1 (manual tray). Print outs come out sideways (similar to 2 up on a page, but only 1 page per page).

If I change the printer from Spool to print directly to the printer, it fixes the above symptoms, but when the user goes to print, no matter how many copies of a document they specify, it only prints one copy.

Any Ideas?

I've made sure I have the most recient Firmware updates for both JetDirect and the printers. (not using the 615 jetdirect cards)

System:
Windows 2000, Using HP install network printer wizard to share out all the printers. Users connecting from Windows-XP/HP-Workstations.

Please Help!

I've run into the same exact problem...anybody ever come up with an answer?

We have tons of 2300n's but I've never seen this problem.... WE have however had problems tied to specific documents or the configuration of the printer in the "printers and faxes" area needed to be tweaked...

I would try a factory reset.. but I always do that when printers start having ghosts within..

Well, the cold restart didnt work... this is really weird: it only does it in certain applications (for example we have a bunch of Access apps and some do it some don't, Word doesn't, etc) it only does it to certain users but those certain users can print the same exact thing to another printer just fine. This probably does nothing clarify whats going on and I would understand if nobody replies. I'm baffled.

I downloaded the "HP Web JetAdmin" tool from HP, updated the firmware to the latest version on all the printers (they werent current). This solved the problem

Then it happened again.

I was downloading from update.microsoft.com the update for the drivers local to the PC and it seemed to mess it up again. - Stopped downloading the update to the PCs on my network and it seems to solve the problem

Good luck!
