I work in an office with 10 workstations. All connected to a Jetdirect. The HP 2100 attached to that. All but on station work without problem. I am using the 2100 PLC 6 driver. It will print to the printer but I get an error in the upper right corner;

PCL XL error
Subsystem:KERNEL
Error: IllegalTag
Operator:0x1b
Position:5

Then I get an error on the screen; The system cannot write ot specified device

Is this an issue of access to the proper printer or is there a fault in the driver?

Thanks

I have notice that sometimes you will get that error with microsoft office program the way I resolve it I used a post script driver instead of the pcl driver.

Thanks for the input

I figured it out. A setting in the printer properties spool setting was set to bi-directional. It needed to be disable bi-directional. It now prints fine
