HP 1210 xi won't scan on HP dv5215us 1

The 1210 xi all in one works fine on my three year old HP ze5468CL laptop running XP Home edition. It will print but not scan when connected to our new two month old dv5215us running XP media edition.

HP will not give me the info to solve the problem unless I buy a 1 year $60 warranty. I refused. I can kind of see their point if it was a different brand, but I bought another HP product.

I did uninstall the printer and reinstall per the HP instructions on the laptop, but it did not help.

Anyway does anyone know how to solve my problem?

Have you looked to see if HP has specific drivers for XP media edition?

Thanks for the suggestion. I used the orginal CD to reload the software. There is some 1210xi software for XP (not specific to Home or Media version) that can be downloaded. I wll try that tomorrow. I will let you know if it is successful.

Thanks for the suggestion. I downloaded the new software but it did not solve the problem.
