hp 1100 and usb error

I bought the hp 1100 recently and i connected it to a win 98se machine via the usb cable and atleast once a day I get an error message regarding the usb cable (the device can not be found) the only thing that works is to reboot the machine hp tech support was of no help

does anybody have any ideas?

would this be some type of win 98 issue?

Hi eanda10;

-Are the drivers of the printer correctly installed?
-Try Getting another windows, 98 has many problems.
-Make sure that the USB is not loose, damaged(both on the printer cable and the Computer).
