Under the RME --> administration --> syslog analysis menu, there is an option to "define automated action" You can use this to set RME to run a perl script when a certain syslog message is recieved. The sample perl script that is included with the ciscoworks installation works just fine. You can find it in the help files. Just go to the define automated action screen and click the help button. Close to the top of the help page, there is a link to see an example. This should give you everything you need. Hope that helps!!!
Does anyone have a sample perl script for sending an SNMP trap from syslog auto action?
It should be possible to use CW2000 for this too. Without installing some external program on the server. DFM sends traps with some of its adapters so the perl script for doing this is in there somewhere in the CW2000 but I haven't be able to figure it out.
