Hi All i have 2 Avaya PBX system to be connected via IP trunk.

Ext: 3xx Ext: 4xx

How can I use UDP to call on each other? how does it work? Can u give me a simple explanation and configuration?

Thanks.

Pick some random udp codes. Lets say:

220 - site 1
221 - site 2

Follow the same procedure to create 221 in switch 2 to setup the switch 1 extensions.

I said that backwards. The example shows the programming for switch 2. I also used 4 digit extensions when your post looks like you may have 3 digit extensions.

Hi lopes1211,

I already made this working thanks for your help. However, what if I have the same dialplan on 2 sites? let say:

1st site 2nd site

CM5.1 CM4.0
S8300/G350 S8300/G700
Ext: 3xx Ext: 3xx
2xx 2xx

any ideas?

You will not be able to use UDP.
In dialplan parameters ypu can chose, if you want to check udp table or local table for extension first.

you will have to add a digit, or substitute a digit, and convert it back sending it over the trunk group. It is possible, just very sloppy and very confusing to end users. It's a much better plan when you have multiple PBX's you will UDP together, to make sure they have different DID's/Dialplans. This is absolutley required if you where going to "merge" the PBXs together with a single system image (as in a main site with multiple LSPs)

Thanks alot folks. One way or another we have to add the digits that we are dialing now. I had to delete 4 digits on my route pattern so that the 3 digits in far-end can be delivered.

Thank you very much. You guys are saving my butt. =)
