Can you setup the Merlin Magix to allow an outside caller to dial your office, enter a code and be able to voice page all zones.

We currently use an external ringer on the main extension, but that does not alway work. However, if I could page and state, please call Mike at xxx-xxxx immediately, someone could respond.

Thanks,

BBKB

No it will not allow that

Melrin magix and legend need some new features

Well, you can do that, but you will have VERY BAD RESULTS.

If you ABSOLUTELY need to do this, it can be done, but I would suggest NOTHING LESS than a FEED BACK ELIMINATOR be used to make this happen.

A FEED BACK ELIMINATOR RECORDS the PAGE, and then PLAYS IT BACK - NOT IN REAL TIME !

Truthfully, I have never used this design, but I have tried it in REAL TIME (NO FEED BACK ELIMINATOR) with HORRIBLE RESULTS! (LOUD TONES OVER THE ENTIRE SYSTEM, PEOPLE YELLING - DO NOT EVER DO THAT AGAIN, and the like.. !!)

Again, if you ABSOLUTELY need to do this, I can provide design info.

AND - KEOM is not exactly correct, It can be done, but do you REALLY WANT TO???

merlinman

Tell us how it can be done???
i am sorry if i am exactly correct

Thanks

OK, First off, I need to know what release of MAGIX is this?

Release 3.0 has a unique feature that the others do not have, and which can make this easy.

So, what release is it?

you can do it by paging through an extension port vs. the co port. this way people can dial in and page by dialing an extension. WARNING! Once you give this option to callers, you may regret getting their 50 pages per day. Voicemail would be a better venue.

Think Ghostin hs the right idea. Set up a Tip/Ring extension as the "PAGE ALL" port on your paging system, then set up remote access to be able to dal that extension, or set up an inbound line to ring on that extension. Seems a little awkward, though. Why not set up several "bells" as tip/ring extensions at different locations, and set a line to ring in on them. Then, when they ring, the inside people could dial a code, and answer the bells. Having someone page in from the outside is not too efficient, and the quality of sound may be bad, and there is no assurance that the page will be heard.

I have done a number of paging across networks. It is usually done for paging within the same organization that are physically apart.I would not recommend it for outsiders since it can easily get out of control.
There are 2 options available
First method used is to put the CO port used for paging in an unused trunk group as the only member. Then use ARS to route calls to the specified pool.
For example program an unused weird area code say 222 in the ARS table to route calls to the paging pool therefore when the callers dial 222 it will route calls to the paging pool.
Second method use is to UDP an extension to route calls to the paging pool.
In both cases delete the outgoing digits and everyone including local users will have to page this way.
You can use ARS level if you need restrictions to paging.
