hello
i've been using aofo with exchange (and getting - mailboxes not snappable, backing up directly from source)
so in readinf thru some tech docs i see that veritas does not recommen use of aofo with exch. they say "use the agent instead"
so, if i uncheck aofo will the agent be used automatically
(it is installed locally on media server and remote piece is on the remote exch server.
thx

The exchange agent will handle open files for you, no need to include aofo in the job. "Backing up directly from source" means that BE has turned off the aofo and is using the agent only.

If you have made the selections properly then the agent will be used automatically.

thx for responding
but now i have to ask what you mean by "properly"
i chose all of c: (it stores logs only)
then i chose information store, mailboxes, shadow copy components, and excluded system type mailboxes
am i ok ?

Yes. If you see an information store and mailboxes then your selections are being made with the agent. Without the agent all you see are a bunch of files on the C:\ drive.

aha!
thx very much lawnboy
i think i see clearly now
