We recently went though layoffs and our CEO now has a new assistant who works at a different desk. Since moving the phone to a new TN is not an option (LONG story), I'm trying to set up the new phone with the two-way intercom.

The old phone is configured on key 6:
hot d 4 5214 5213 marp v 0

When I go to type exactly that in the new phone, it errors out when I type 5213. I'm familiar with using hotline to use it as a direct dial to a phone number, extension, or the pager; but this one escapes me.

The desired result is (1) Push Hotline (2) Talk.

I tried to see if creating an intercom group would be suitable, (programmed a key 05 DIG 3 0 / Key 05 DIG 3 2 sequence) but the CEO didn't like having to remember the station number. :)

Looks like from CEO to Assistant is 5214 5213. The Assistant to CEO should be 5213 5214. To add another phone in the mix, choose an available number, i.e. 5212. The CEO to new TN would be:
hot d 4 5214 5212 marp v 0

And new TN to CEO would be:
hot d 4 5212 5214 marp v 0

You have to have unique numbers.

I think I answered my own question:

I didn't realize when you set a two-way hotline that when you specify a dn to connect to, that dn cannot be in use anywhere. So by setting say, hot d 4 1234 5678, the system automatically assigns 1234 to the first station and on the opposite station I set hot d 4 5678 1234 which assigns 5678.

There is symmetry and peace now. :)
