We have a customer with the first firmware in their 3711 phones. They experience problems with duplicate or trippletts in their phone book on missed calls made calls etc..
Avaya tell us to uppgrade to latest firmware witch is on Admin CD 3.2 something.

The manual tells us how, but i cant get it to work. When you connect the USB cable you probably need a USB driver.
But i cant lokate the USB driver anyware on the webb. Avaya cant even tell me where to find it either.
Ive tryed to look att the DeTewe websites but cant find anything usefull.

Instruktiions from manual:
Checking the 3711 Phone Firmware Version
To display the version information of the 3711 phone:

Short press Menu and enter the following key sequence: R***76#.

Select Version Number and press OK. The display shows the software and the hardware level of the 3711 phone.

Check the firmware version to determine whether an update is required to overcome any user issues.

Upgrading the 3711 Phone Firmware
Connect the 3711 phone to your PC’s serial interface (via a specific download cable) and start the installer program from your PC.

If the 3711 is connected, the following mask appears:

If the connected 3711 is identified by the Installer, the 3711 is switched off.

Press c-key and the up part of the key.

If the update has completed, you can leave the program or start the upgrade of the next phone.

the notes you psted sugest that the unit should be conneted to s serial port (rs232).
what programming cable do you have & where was it obtained?

It is a USB type A -> mini USB.
Obtained at a local computer/home electronics dealer.
Isn´t USB serial communication?

The unit pops up as a unknown USB device when connected to PC.

I have allso thougt about RS232. But after reading the produkt deskription at DeTewe homepage it seems as a ordinary USB port. Their model is called "Open phone 27" and is just labelled with Avaya 3711 perhaps with different firmware tough.

You can buy a RS232 cable from avaya, you connect that to your serial port and the other side to the phone.

You start the new Firmware file and follow the instructions.

Phone upgraded :)

New version (in 3.2 17) includes that you can see what group the incoming call is seeking instead of just his number.

Thanks.
You dont happen to have a Avaya article number or a schematics over the cable?
If there are aschematics i can make a cable myself.

Sorry, my current pricelist doesn't include that item and it took 2 months before I got it when I ordered it so I think you probably could order it from DeTeWe and get it a lot faster.

3701 Needs a cradle and a serial cable. The executable file is looking for a com port.
3711 Needs the USB cable mentioned.
I tried the latest 3711 software on a DeTeWe Opencom27 (No spare 3711 at hand) and indeed the Windows hardware wizard found new hardware and was looking for a driver.
I don't know if the correct software (detewe in this case) would also provide a driver.

Does anybody know the differences between the firmware versions and also the differences in the firmware you must load into the basestations?
I would like to know if some problems that sometimes occur (extension busy even when it's not) are solved in those firmwares.

I have a bad feeling about the avaya ip dect. Tell me im wrong. Are there any systems who work perfect?

We have installed a few IP Dect systems now, some with bases on several locations and it has worked fine so far apart from some bugs in 3.1 softwares twinning that is fixed now in 3.2.
