It may be more helpful to everyone if you make this a FAQ instead of a post. I am sure this information will help some people thanks for posting it.

Thanks critchey
thank you for that

Not to offend you but this topic has passed quite often.
BTW the CustomPrompts folder is alreaddy RW for the SFTP Administrator user

hi intrigrant

As my experience and knowledge by default that (opt/vm/Wavs) folder RW for the root user only but unfortunately we can't access via root user. so if we want to upload files via sftp then first need to give RW access to admin user.

Please correct me if i am wrong.

/opt/vmpro/Wavs is read-only but /opt/vmpro/Wavs/CustomPrompts you have write access to, that's where they think you should store all your files.

hi janni
I accept your point but by default VMPRO directory location is (opt/vmpro/wavs/) so this post for who don't know about more and also for new vmpro people.

nik

Yeah, I've changed it in the past as well =)

It's good info so post it in the FAQ section if you haven't already.
Only thing I would change is to point the download link to since the version will change often.

CustomPrompts probably is the sensible location to store custom prompts but as per usual Avaya (lack of) joined up thinking the VM Client defaults to the Wavs directory so historically everyone has just placed them here (Including myself)

Perhaps I may start using the "Correct" directory in future but I suspect I will simply stick with changing the permissions as old habits die hard

Do things on the cheap & it will cost you dear

The wavs folder has read/write for the user Administrator. Maybe not in the past it is now for sure.

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!
