The instal\uninstall feature shows 8 programs but when I try to uininstall them the error message 'could not open logfile c:\ *\2\stgunst.log' for instance. These files do not show up in Explorer nor in the registry under 'current user' or any of the profiles.

Why do they show up in the 'uninstall' Window.

Ordinarily this is because the programs were not removed correctly. Someone just deleted the progrsam folder/files rather than use the uninstall program for that app. They can be removed by removing the entry form the registry under the uninstall key within the current version key for Windows in the registry.
