I've been using my laptop for quite long before I connected it to Server/Client network. There are some important settings and bookmarks I built over the time which I would love to preserve. But in order to connect to Server/Client network I have to use one of the domain user accounts which I've created on Domain Controller using Active Directory.
It is apparent now - I can only login to my laptop using my old laptop account. My old friendly laptop account is not valid for domain network I built few days ago...
I wonder if it is possible to convert a local account to domain one? Any help is greatly appreciated!

the short answer is no.

there are things you can copy; but your PC has to be a member of the domain... not a simple thing to explain here... and might not be what you and/or your company want...

What OS is the laptop? jtb is correct, but if you're just looking to save shortcuts on the laptop, maybe the local user profile can be used. Just a thought.

Laptop is running under Windows XP Pro.

It seems that if I would choose to build a network using WORKGROUP configuration then I would able to use my old user settings and still being able to navigate through the network computers and network drives. But Client/Server configuration with its centralized organization does't allow to do it.
That's fine. I would just copy my old desktop and such. Thanks for your replies!
