Hey How can i transfer database from my system to the remote system.
One way which i use is by connecting to the remote system and exporting the database.
Are there any other ways of doing it like can we take the database into any moveable media(as floppy disks) as we do with MS-access.

Thanks [sig][/sig]

You can use SQL Enterprise Manager's Backup and Restore commands (they are also Transact-SQL Statements.) [sig][/sig]

You can try to do a data transfer also. I assume you already have created the dB on the remote server, so transfer all the data. (sometimes has errors)

Or you could back it(data) up to a back up device then copy it into the backup folder in MSSQL on the remote servers hard drive then go to enterprise manager and restore the dB from the back up deveice.

As far as removable media, I guess it would all depend on the size of your dB (keep this in mind when you are copying files over your network also)My guess is tape backup is your best bet. I'm not sure as to what hardware you have in your environment but that will work. Good luck and let us know how it turns out for you.

You could use sp_detach_db on the source end, and sp_attach_db on the receiving end. [sig]<p>Robert Bradley<br><a href=mailto: > </a><br><a href= - Visual FoxPro Development</a><br> [/sig]
