I have to copy data from one laptop to another. These laptops are not connected to any network. Can someone tell me how is it possible using a cable or infrared on the laptops.

Are the IR ports active? You can aim the IR ports at each other and make sure they are fairly close. Make sure, in any case, that your drives are shared. At the very least, you should have a C$ share on each machine. Once the 2 laptops can see each other, drag and drop all you want!!

IF you want to use a cable, you will need what's called a cross over cable. You should be able to purchase one at your local computer store or over the internet.

Again, hook up the cable to each pc's network card (NIC). Look for C$ on each pc, (You MAY have to enable file sharing on each). Drag and drop!

Pweegar,
Thanks for the reply. Both the laptops have infrared ports.
Please tell me how to configure or make these ports active.
