I have an old Avaya small office (Rel 3.1-29,IP401 NG) which is slowly dying. A couple of the POT ports are dead and also one of the analogue trunk ports will not trip incoming calls.
I have another spare in our store with the same hardware but running rel 7.0-5, IPV500V2
What do I need to do to install the customer configuration onto this replacement hardware.
Note that I do not have access to a version of 3.1 office manager software. Also the existing old system has no licenses applied and does not have a system ID installed into either PCMCIA slot.

Thanks Guys

The IP500v2 is different and the software releases also.
The small office has build in ports for digital, analog and a VCM card for IP phones and has analog trunks ports..
The IP500v2 has no cards in it by default so you need to match up the phone cards and trunk cards.
Then you will need an dongle even when you do not have any licenses.
If you do not know all this then you better call an Avaya business partner to get this sorted for you.
Perhaps if you tell where you are based someone over here can help you out.

Hi TLPETER

Sorry if I confused you, but the hardware is the same. When I connect to the "new" system it says that the system software is 7.0(5) IP500V2 even though I am connected to an Avaya IP Office - Small Office Edition.

Thanks

Impossible to see IP500v2 when it is a SOE.

A small office does not have an SD card which shows up in your picture!!!

This is what a SOE/401 looks like:

This is what you are connected to in that screenshot:

Quite different :)

SOE was maximum R4.2
you have an IP500 with 2 Combo cards, one for BRI and the other one for analog trunks
This is a SOE

Hi Guys,

See the attached image of the Small Office System I am connected to. I am all too aware of the differences between the IP500V2 and a Small Office System, I am as confused as you on this......

A configuration from another device (Certainly an IP500V2) may well have been loaded onto this system, but this is what I am seeing when I connect and open system status.

Back to the original question. How do I insert the cfg file from the faulty Small Office System (which is running 3.1 (29)) into this hardware which you see before you??

Cheers

I will bet you good money that system you have detected is picked up through your wireless connection. That is not a 500v2 config loaded onto that box...no way. I am not going to tell you how to do it or you will wipe out the system you have mistakenly connected to plus it needs reconfiguring from scratch really :)

Hi amriddle01,

You are exactly right - what an idiot I am......

I'll see how I get on now that I am connected to the right system - imagine defaulting the next office's system configuration.

Cheers
