Let me start by saying I'm not an electrician, nor a wiring guru, I've just inherited additional responsibilities do to downsizing.

We currently have a Dees Communications 8 trunk power fail bypass unit, model 154. This unit uses ground start lines. I'm trying to find how best to test that these lines are functioning as they should.

Am I suppose to get dial tone at the d-marc on the ground start lines or does something need to occur before dial tone is present at the d-marc?

I would like to know how I can test these lines all the way to the jack.

Any information to point me in the right direction would be appreciated.

Thank you.

no you won't get dailtone right of the demark just by going of hook you have to short either tip or ring momentarly to telco ground and then you will get dial tone....

I hate to be a broken record but did you at least take a peek
at the docs befor posting here??

if you put the unit in bypass mode or induce a power failure the unit will do a groundstart seize for you if you go off hook at each pft jack you should be able anac the line and should be the line that is connected to on that potion of the relay (you know how I know I just read the docs)

try turning off the power and see if the "power fail by-pass actually works ...

sounds to simple

How come the poster got two stars for asking questions?

Jim
