I am getting a 1008 error in the event ID. Open Procedure for service "ContextFilter" in DLL "QPerf.dll" failed. Performance data for this service will not be available. Status Code returned DWORD 0.

It also, has the same error but with "ContextIndex" and "ISAPISearch" in place of "ContextFilter" associated with the DLL file "QPerf.dll"

I checked evenid.net and found some info on it, but do not know what application this is associated with in order to fix it. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks highland, I'll look into that more. Looks like the exact problem I'm having. To know which programs use which DLL's would I use something like filemon? I've heard of it but not sure where to get it? The reason I ask is for instances like this or because sometimes I have to update a program and another program uses the same dll so I get stuck restarting so that it is no longer in use. I was able to narrow down a couple of the ones that I run into trouble with just by watching the installation filenames as they're installed, but I'm sure there's an easier way.

You can get Filemon from here.....

They have a wide range of other utilities which you might find useful....including Regmon......

I'm sure i read somewhere about a method for tracking dll's and I'm sure it was simple....????....just can't remember where I saw it......Ok gonna try find it.......

Sysinternals also have a tool called Process Explorer which can be used to find out what dll's a process has open, what rregistry keys it uses etc.. Maybe that could help you.
