Hi, I am Pablo, from Argentina... and I wonder if you know if it is
posible to sync Exchange 5.5 with Outlook 2000 using dial up over
internet.... I mean, dialing an ISP, and connecting to the exchange server
with its IP address ...

Do u know if its possible ...? What I found is that u have to use dial up
networking directly to your server, and that doesnt help me.

Thanks a lot,

PABLO

Yes it is possible. I am assuming that your Exchange Server is connected to the Internet full time on a T1 or some other type of high speed connection. You need to read up on configuring a VPN. Once you are running the VPN services on your server then you have to install the VPN client on your client computer. Once this is done (write if you need help with that) then you would use your client to make two connections, first dial the internet, then you would dial your VPN connection. That opens a semi-secure tunnel between you and the server. You can connect and sync that way. There are other ways but this is (what I think) is the best, and easest way to go.

Hey, it´s me again...

I´ve done it but with the FireWall on, it didn´t work.
I was monitoring the FW logs, and seems the request/answers are changing ports continuosly and not using the fixed ones I specified (1225,1226).

Seems Exchange didn´t apply the reg settings I gave it.

It there a way to check it ? I mean, if exchange will communicate with clients in the ports I´ve specified ?

I run netstat -a in the server that is running JUST exchange, and theres a long list of ports listening... That´s why I think this is not using the fixed ones..

If u have an idea, I´ll appreciate it.
