Hi

I have a couple of things that pop up upon startup, and I cannot figure out where they are located.

One of them is a window for norton antivirus, and the other one is my printer.

When I go to file, properties on the window, there are no properties on that file, i don't know why.

When I go to run > msconfig, and I look in the list of things that are launched upon startup, i cannot find the name of the 2 items i mentioned above.

How do I find them and disable these two things upon startup?

Thanks!

Start/Run/Regedit
HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/Run

On the right side of the screen, delete whatever you don't want to load when you start up your computer by right-clicking on the item under Name and selecting Delete.

Start/Run/Regedit
HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/Run

And

Start/Run/Regedit
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/Run

and then if you are useing Winxp , Right click on Run and click permissions > Make Read only and remove full control

you are setup for advanced attack

Spybot Search and Destroy 1.3 Download it,
go to advanced view then tools > system startup
If your lucky it will be in there
ASPY32 (an application stolen from bcastner) tells you what startsup for every user.
Startup Inspector
Can do a similar thing telling you what starts up and tries to tell you what it actually is.
Hope this helps

Also try,

run, "msconfig" and uncheck any programs that you do not want to load into start-up\memory.

The question is how to find items that startup not listed in MSconfig.;-)
