I need to stop crystal report from loading in the crystal viewer on the web. The code running loads the report and navigates to last page (don't ask, it has to). The problem is that while I can navigate away from the page or even close the browser, crystal reports continues to run and take up resources until it's finished, often time even to the point where I can't display another report until the first one stops. I need to stop that process. Any help would be appreciated.

The last page is when Crystal finishes, so it makes sense that if you are moving to the last page it would require it to finish first.

If it's slow, perhaps you can increase the speed of the query or the report. Make sure that all filtering is offloaded to the report.

Hi,
How are you running the report on the web?

If you are at the last page and exit the browser, what is still running?

snapsevampire: we realize that navigating to the last page of a report requires cr to finish first. The problem is that we need to cancel the reports processing while it is navigating to the last page.

Turkbear: the page is run in a cr viewer, an activex that is distributed with VS.NET, I believe. Nothing is running if we exit the browser while on the last page; we need to stop the report's processing before it gets to the last page, in case the user wishes to cancel the report load/display.

Thanks for your responses.

Hi,
Did you click on the 'Stop' button ( the little square box on the toolbar of the ActiveX viewer ( not the browser's red X ))?

In any event, if the command to retreive data has been sent to the database, it may not be able to stop immediately, since it may not 'poll' for input until it is back from the the database..

Once you've stated go to the last page, that command might overide the cancel button until it has done so.

What happens when you click cancel, it just keeps going?

synapsevampire: we cannot display the viewer's taskbar so we cannot click the cancel button. However, I tried the same report with the same parameters in Crystal Reports itself attempting to click the stop button while the report was going to the last page => the button was not even enabled so I do not believe that we have that option online either.
